Friends of Neochange,
IT executives are under immense pressure to transform their organization. These pressures include the familiar forces of keeping pace with evolving business unit demands, reducing the costs of IT services and delivering IT-driven business value. Like any significant transformation, the three leverage points of People, Process & Technology need to be altered to ensure success. So how are IT organizations doing on the people side of the equation?
After 8 years of working side-by-side with IT executives to transform their organizations, we know IT executives have come a long way in addressing the people side of IT management. As a result of advances in leadership development and HR practices, we have begun to notice patterns in the "personality" of IT organizations. Common traits and mindsets that are not industry or company specific and drive behavior in the areas of relationship building, communication, innovation and most importantly leadership.
To better understand these personality patterns and their implications for IT Executives, Neochange is undertaking a unique study into the personality profile of IT. The purpose of this study is to understand personality traits across IT departments and management levels and how these traits influence communication styles, the development of relationships with business partners and leadership styles.
Through the personality tool (PRINT developed by the Hertz Group) we use in all out engagements we seek to understand patterns in personality characteristics and behavioral drivers for key management and execution roles across IT. The resulting IT personality profile will be neither "good" nor "bad", but will provide insight into the natural leanings of IT executives and their staff in managing the IT discipline.
With this study, we aim to provide fresh insight into how IT organizations can better leverage the "people-side" of their organization to solve their key business challenges, which we have categorized into the following areas:
- Keeping pace with and influencing the business
- Prioritizing IT demand to align with organizational value
- Building and fostering strategic relationships with business leaders
- Delivering IT-driven Innovation
- Leading internal and business partner facing organizational transformations
Everyone that participates in our research will automatically receive their confidential personality PRINT, commercially worth more than $100, and a copy of the resulting report. I hope you will join us in this ground-breaking study, feel free to forward this invitation to your colleagues and peers.
